The Mysteries Of Nature

Ari sat on his perch on the High Mountains on the south of the vast land of Fields and Forest. His sharp, watchful eye watching the land, and skies for intruders, and possible threats. And also for Animals he could hunt. But, due to the slow decline of his species, and well, there was many things he had to look out for. Humans. Dragons, Giants.. the list goes on. But, he has also been looking for a Mate. That thought has been way lost though. All he has seen is hostile Males. Never seen a Female since The Great Plague. It caused both Males and Females to be unable to reproduce. It had slowly began to take effect, and only a few fertile Hippogriff's still lived. Ari didn't know himself if he was one of the victims. if he was, he would die of the sickness. It caused the victim unable to reproduce offspring, and then it would kill you. He hasn't felt anything at this moment. And that gave him hope. But it also gave him pain. He has always wanted a family. To love. A Mate to love, to protect. Maybe he was going to be in luck on of these days...

Solitude was something she expected all her life; she had grown adjusted to it. Much better than dealing with humans, or anything that sought to capture her. But she had been keeping track, an illness inflicting infertility among her species. She was worried she herself, had been affected by this. Would she never bear healthy offspring and die without the beauty of raising children? 

Livana had been oddly, walking. She had gone into some form of heat, her hooves clicking awkwardly as she murmured something to herself.

Ari looked around, and cleaned his chest feathers, his eyes darting around for any movement. He gave a soft sigh, and laid down, his front paws folding under his chest as he gazed out into the clear distance. Movement caught his eye, but he quickly made it for a trickery of his mind.

Her bird-like front limbs lazily guided her, rudder of tails awkwardly twitching as she came to a halt. Her horse-like ears made of feathers and the normal ear... things. Livana heaved in the air, her long beak shifting with her positioning as she soon picked up the pace. It felt like... something was watching her, the young creature let out a faint chirp. Shaking out her thick neck.

Ari stretched out his lazy wings. They looked so small when they were folded. But, really, they were massive, and rather intimidating. Then, something caught his eye. A Griffin... With his sharp gaze, he saw that easy. He opened his beak, and let out a sort of high pitched whistle. He spread his wings, and ran off the cliff. He went into a dive, before spreading his wings, and he swooped up like a bullet.

Now she was on alert, another of her kind was out here? She reeked, well. In a good way, of course she was ready to attempt and let the male court her for the sake of seeing if she was going to die from the illness. She hadn't been showing any signs but, it could never hurt. She remained still, gazing up at the sky.

He lazily circled above the Griffon, soon finding out that it was a Female... a... Female? Wow! He let out another high pitched whistle, and slowly descended. His gaze never leaving the Female. He finally landed, his wings folding to his side, and to tilted his head to the side. "Hi?" He asked.

There they were... a male? Oh, she felt her thick feathery chest ruffle out to try and look more appealing to the eye. Once he had landed, she had flattened her ears. "Hello," Livana greeted carefully as she circled the male curiously.

He clicked with his beak, his eyes trailing over her body. This Female was rather beautiful. As she began to circle him, he took a better look at her body, as he turned slightly, following her, examining her curiously. "And who would you be?" He asked.

"Livana." She responded as she studied the male's figure, charming. She soon stopped pacing in her formation, approaching the male as she brushed against him. Her tail feathers twitched, faintly wafting about the scent of her body in need. "It's been so long since I've seen a healthy specimen."

He clicked once more as she brushed against him. His tail lightly trailing over her chest. "What a nice name.." He said, to entranced by her scent that flew over him. "Ari." He said softly. "And.. it'd been a while for me to.." He said, glancing at her. He gently pressed against her, before pulling away, clicking softly. Yes.. Very Healthy. Very beautiful too...

"A handsome name to match a handsome face," Livana churred softly as they brushed against one another. She was unsure, was he truly healthy? Would he be able to bear many children, or was he doomed like half of the others she had stumbled upon? A rumble escaped her chest, glancing back at the male. She departed from rubbing against him, her haunches wiggling as her wings ruffled.

Ari laughed softly, and laid down. "Well, my nest is your nest if you wish." He said with a small dip of his head.

She ruffled out her thick mane of feathers, ears twitching as her long beak dipped towards his ear. "I'll do just a thing," Livana spoke before shrugging and resuming her usual attitude. She would suppose it would become her home, until they grew bored of one another. "Now, tell me. So it isn't just all sex and eggs, who are you? Before we flirted with each other?"

"Eh, nothing really special about me. I'm Ari. Or.. Ari Maraun, if you call me the way my Mother called me. I... uh... am kinda different from when we flirted?" He ended sheepishly. Ari was a rather shy creature. He was pretty young as well. 

 (Have no idea how long these things live. Lol)

"I just want to know about your past, you know. Form an emotional bond, really care for you." She offered with a click of the beak. "Livana, but you know that. Nothing fancy like you, my parents don't like socializing much. Not a lot of interesting things, my dad was old and my mother was any bitter mother."

"Oh! Right.. Heh." He said, clearing his throat. "My Mother was over protective... My dad? He was just plain old grumpy. Illness got to him. Couldn't take it. Not long after... My Mother disappeared. I stayed in a small cave, until I went hunting, and here I am." He said with a soft sigh. "Think they were hit with the Plague as well... They always said they'd start another clutch, but... that clutch never came." He said, frowning softly.

"There we go, tough guy." She let out an odd purr, nodding her head as she flattened her ears. "Sorry about your loss, bud. I'm sure you would of made a great brother. I didn't have any siblings, my father use to be one of those... violent guys, lots of pissed off birds often attacked the nest and that stuff." She gestured with her wing to nothing, really. 

"So we gonna do something? Sleep, eat? Yada yada? I don't mind the talkin' but I'm not use to this."

He gave a small shrug. "I don't think about it much... They would have died later on in life. Weren't the most fit of the bunch." He said.

He then looked at her. "Well, maybe we should.. just mess around.. Hunt or something like that." He stated. he's not had another Griffin in his nest for a long time. Ever since his Parents died. "I ain't used to this either. You aren't alone in that section." He chuckled softly.

"Well, I know you aren't going to kill me so I can trust you." She simply dipped her head, respectfully despite her attitude. "I wouldn't mind either, either or will do. I'm a really good fisher, with a nice long beak. Not good at sucking, though."

"A fisher? I'm alright at fishing. I usually go for Mammals though. Easier to catch." He stated with a small stretch, and yawn. "Well, maybe we can have a laugh while we hunt?" He offered.

"See, I can't hunt mammals. Well, I can stab them pretty well. It takes some time." She chuckled and made her way out of the little arch area. Spreading her wings and glancing at him. "Sure, why not? I could use some meat on these bones."

"Hm.. I can help you with that if you want." He said. He then stood up, chuckling softly. "Well, lets head off." He said, spreading his wings, passing her, and he took flight.

She let out a huff, soon following after him with a beat of her strong wings. Swiftly airborne as she followed after the male. "Just be careful! I don't want some infected birdbrain following us home!"
