Tales [Starchaser] Black-10For Starchaser
Rain lashed down upon the earth with a fury, the torrential flooding of the nearby woodland forcing the mythical to seek the open roads laid out by humans, as the river that lingered through the trees grew dangerously high at its banks. If it were to burst, the unicorn had not the strength of magic to contain it; it was weeks since the last encounter he had with another creature of any kind, and its effects were notable, the horn which spiralled from the centre of his sable forehead little more than a decoration in its de-energised condition.

The pathway was trodden with countless footprints, hinting that there was a settlement nearby, and it was in such a direction that the unicorn now travelled, his stride controlled, fluid, as this land had a reputation for hunters who would not wish to bargain with any but their own. Tales spoke of such who would prey amongst themselves, trading with their prettiest specimens for gold, territory and sometimes for reasons of peace. Or so was rumoured. If he were of the fate to encounter any of their like, only then would it be confirmed as more than gossiping.

What The Hell Man

Rose had hoped the rain would deter the guards, but that did not seem to be the case. She could hear the shouts, far behind her but audible, as she ran through the downpour. The road beneath her had grown muddy and slick, but luckily she had yet to slip and fall. She was worried not about her clothing-she wore nothing but a rough, simple dress, and she was lucky to have that much, when most of the other slaves were unclothed completely.

She pushed herself a bit faster as she heard the guard's voices growing closer. She'd be captured again if she wasn't careful-and that was the last thing she wanted.

As the weather continued alike an unpredictable tropical climate, the onyx creature's ears sloped towards a source of noise, uproar, almost; human voices, distant, but not stationary. If he were to guess, it would seem that they were travelling at a fair pace, and had more than enough reason to be calling out through the rain which would make for uncertain footing. Though it was not much for his hooves to deal with, and the beginning of a smirk curved his lips at the sight of a runaway. The village must have been closer than he thought.

Lowering his head to sample the drenched grasses, the unicorn sidestepped out of her way, leaving the path clear. “You run fast for one with two legs.” He would compliment once certain she could hear, not being able to resist the temptation as certain details were noticed, like the rudimentary choice of dress. Besides, humans were of his favourite playthings; they were often so eager to please his kind, especially with the rumours of their nobility. In some ways, he valued that about them, but he was often not aligned to that description, if only in appearance.

She heard a voice as she ran on, catching just a bit of it, replying before she had the time to fully process it. "I have to," She called back, before she realized just what the person she heard had said. Two legs.

She slowed, nearly stopping, glancing back over her shoulder to see who had spoken to her. She soon found that there wasn't a human to be seen at all. She thought, at first, that it was a mere horse grazing at the side of the path, thinking the rider must be hidden. But when she saw the horn on its head, she came to a complete stop. "A unicorn," She breathed, utterly shocked.
