ooc note ;; In this thread your character will stumble upon the last demon in existence. This is no modern day, it's based in a sort of medieval era. Your character will end up becoming the demon's mate. Picking a human / anthro because they'll have a lower chance of pregnancy with a demon. c:
        - x -
It was cold.

Humans had finally gotten serious about killing demons, the Kingdom had risen against the devilish beasts and began to hunt them as a sport. Anzo was the only one, his species of his kind was rare - able to manipulate shadow. He had hidden like a coward, instead of joining the fight. And now he was alone.

He sat in front of a creek, his paw messing softly with the pebbles. The bubbling brook had become his home, humans did not come out here. Finding a mate would be hard, a dog or another animal would do. The offspring would be difficult, half demon and half... other. Avoiding humans would be hard, he couldn't just knot a dog and leave the bitch. His fluffy tail thumped, shaking his head.

Belle staggered on, her stomach gnawing with hunger and her body freezing. It had been only a day since she had been cast out of her village. She had  provisions that would last her for a short while, but she was trying to make them last. Who knew how long it would be before she found someplace knew to live? If she even did, of course...

They had called her a witch. They had claimed she had put curses on half the girls her age, made the cows give sour milk, and a whole host of other things that she couldn't possibly have done. They'd even claimed she had been seen running in the forest with demons, as if anyone had seen a demon alive in years.

Finding herself at a brook, she knelt down, shivering as she dipped a hand into the frigid water, bringing it up to her mouth to drink. It wasn't much, but she hoped it might let her forget her hunger for a while. As she went to stand up again, she stopped, feeling her body grow rigid. She gave a gasp of surprise, and of fear, seeing a demon sitting casually on the far side of the water.

Anzo was preparing to find a place to sleep, odd enough the woods had been growing a bit colder each night. It was summer, but still odd. He had to find food soon enough, living off of grub and bugs. He needed real food, be it he hunt or use the shadows to steal a meal from villagers until he had taken too much. His tail curled around his paws, thick mane blowing in the faint breeze as he cleared his throat - forgetting he had a voice. Years of solitude and peace, but a bit of fear he had forgotten he could even talk. He had gotten use to mimicking voices of wild beasts to scare off hunters, the wolf was his favorite.

And that was his partial identity, the creature he looked the closest too. Despite the horns and the odd tail. But every demon had its horn, or it would of simply looked weird. His ears perked, faintly brushing against his horns - a human. Dressed in any maiden's clothing, a fine dress. He did not know a village was that close. He backed away, hopefully she would not notice him. But Anzo was being rewarded with bad karma. Watching her raise her head and rise as her eyes landed upon his coat.

He would not reveal his voice just yet, he would keep the ruse of a mute demon for now. He'd only scare her more if he began speaking. Instead, he cautiously approached her. Don't scream, don't scream. His thoughts repeated, soon coming to a halt once he was in the middle of the shallow water.

Belle did not scream. She could hardly find her voice at all, or will her legs to move. Not that running would do her much good, certain the demon would easily be able to outpace her. She stayed silent still as the wolf-like creature approach her, barely moving an inch until it stopped in the middle of the creek.

She had never encountered a demon before - they were supposed to be eradicated, after all - but she had heard they were animal-like in there behavior. Perhaps it had no interest in her, but in the food in her satchel? She slowly reached in, grabbing the first thing her hand fell on, a small bit of a dried meat. She tossed away from her, before scrambling back in the opposite direction, watching carefully.

Dog, dog. He had to think like a dog. He approached, picking up the thrown meat in his mouth and trotting over to her. He offered her a wagging tail as he walked up to her, pressing his wet nose against her hand as if to offer the meat back. He soon backed away before any further panic was created. Tilting his head to the side, ears perking in slight embarrassment. Was this how dogs behaved? He was so use to acting almost human. Well, despite with his feral appearance.

His tail wagged, a small bark coming from his lips. Well, the closest thing he could do that was similar to a bark. His tail thumped against the pebbles. Staring up at her as he began panting, was he dog enough yet?

She flinched, pulling her hand away as though she expected it to be burnt when she felt the demon's wet nose against her skin. His behavior was certainly...unexpected. She certainly didn't think he'd come trotting back with the food and leave it in her mouth. She looked at the meat with uncertainty. It had been in a demon's mouth, after all. Hard pressed as she was for supplies, she was wary to keep it after that. She set it aside, looking up with a start as the demon made an odd bark - or well, something close to a bark.

She studied the demon, still unsure of what to make of it. He seemed to be acting rather canine, and he didn't seem to want to harm her, and so she hesitantly extended her hand for him to sniff. "You're alone out here, aren't you?" She mused, not expecting a response.

How he urged to speak, even just to scream for no reason. But he would keep up the act, maybe he would speak once she was comfortable. Depending on how long she stayed, his tail wagged happily. Ears twitching as he hated to act like such a beast, but it did have its perks. Soon her words came, his lips peeling back before he corrected himself. No talking. Even if he had to cut off his own tongue.

Instead, another odd bark came out as he kept his silly pant. Rising to his paws and rubbing at her dress, soon pulling away as his tail wagged. Tilting his head to the side, dogs acted like that? Right?

"Well, you're not nearly as frightening as I thought," She said softly, smiling a little at his strange barks and the wya he tilted his head to the side. The demon did come off as being rather dog-like, despite the fierce and foreign appearance his horns and tail gave him.

She smooth the fabric of her dress after he'd rubbed it, before she looked back up at him. Hesitating for a moment, she reached out towards him again, slowly running her fingers through the thick fur at his neck as she found herself more and more at ease around him.

Aha! Anzo was doing it right, this was a victory for the brute. His tail kept thumping, a rumble of delight escaping his throat at her words. Maybe he should of stopped responding each time, it didn't seem dog like. Were dogs intelligent? He needed to do more research.

The touch, however was strange. His body tensed up, expecting her to simply wring her neck as soon as she got the chance. The feeling of a hand, it was warm yet - cold. His long mane hadn't felt this feeling before, he blinked at her curiously. What would he do now? If she went back to wherever she came from surely she'd make his presence known.
