Thade gave a nod to his warriors as they spread out around the village, readying themselves for the raid to come. It had barely been a week since Thade had taken over the position of chief since the death of his father when the people of the village broke a long standing truce they had held with their tribe. The humans had promised to never hunt on the far side of the river marking the border between their two lands, but they had forged forward to hunt while his father's grave was freshly dug. The minotaur knew the punishment for breaking the truce was a raid, and had been quick to rally his warriors and lead them to the village's edge. Of course, Thade had more than just revenge on his mind. It was tradition for a chief to claim his or her mate from the first raid since they rose to that position, and he intended on keeping it. He gave the signal to his warriors, and together they streamed into the village, starting their assualt.

Shae half closed here eyes in bliss, feeling warm water swirl around her. Being in close relations to the chief was always nice... Especially when you are immediate kin. Warm water for bathing, the best food... Right now, she was taking a slow bath. With her ears underwater, she barely heard the footsteps outside.

It only sounded like someone walking around, so she wrote it off as her father leaving the house. That was a bad mistake.

As the battle raged on, it was clear that his kind had the upper hand. The village's chief seemed to be nowhere to be found-perhaps he had abandoned his own village or was hiding away instead of fighting. Thade scoffed at the thought, thinking him pathetic for such cowardice.

He made his way to the grandest house in the village, pushing open the door. He searched through the place, seeking to find the chief-but instead found a woman in a bath, her eyes closed and her ears beneath the water. He approached the tub, looking down at the naked human with lust in his eyes as he took in the lovely sight of her body.

Shae felt her skin getting wrinkled, so she opened her eyes. She was about to get up when she saw Thade. She screamed, jumping out the other side of the tub. She grabbed an animal skin towel and covered herself up.

"Who are you?" She asked, shaking in fear. She never thought of a minotaur like this when her father mentioned it. Well, more like her 'over hearing' it. She looked him up and down, feeling a bit wet.

She mentally scolded herself for being horny when her life was in danger.

Thade gave a short laugh as the human screamed and leapt from the tub, hurriedly snatching up a towel to cover herself. It did not escape his notice when he noticed her eyes sweeping up and down over his form, and he could definitely smell a hint of an arousal just as she did so, bringing a smirk to his face.

"Did you humans not even take the time to learn who you were stealing from?" He said, "I am Thade, son of the late Grimm, chief of the Stonehoof tribe." He took a step towards the human, towering over the small female. "And you are?"

Shae froze. "My father stole from you?" She glanced around, a bit surprised. She always though if her father as a man of honor.

"I'm Shae..." She said, scanning the area for escape routes. Damn her father for building such a beautiful house, but not have an escape route. Or more door than just one. She leaned down and grabbed an elaborate dress, slipping it over her. She wriggled into it, then paused. She had one chance to run past him and to the door. Hopefully she could escape into the woods.

3... 2... 1! She shot towards him, trying to slip beneath the Minotaur. But it was not to be.

"Your father and his men decided it fit to poach game from my tribe's hunting grounds. He smirked as he saw her scanning the room, searching for a way out. Unfortunately for her, it would not be as simple as trying to sidle by him.

As she shot towards the door, trying to slip under him, he reached down, grabbing her around the waist, before he hoisted her over his shoulder. "A valiant effort," He said, "But not quite good enough." He turned to leave the room, still carrying her, when one of his warriors called to him from the hall. "They've surrended, sir," He called, "What shall we do?"

"Let each warrior take what they desire but no more than they can carry alone," Thade said, "And spill no more blood, unless you are provoked."

Shae struggled against the Minotaur, trying to break free. It was an impossible idea, but she would try. She spotted one of her friends, dead. She froze, not wanting to be killed herself.

She fell, limp, staring at the ground. She was not ready to die now... She would wait for her fate.

Thade ignored the girl's struggles, pleased when she finally went limp. She had no need to worry over her death; killing her was the furthest idea from his mind. No, he needed her alive.

The warriors had soon claimed their prizes and were gathering at the village's edge. There were a large number, both male and female, minotaur as well as other animal-like races in addition to a handful of humans, orcs, elves and dwarves. It had long been the practice of the Stonehoof tribe to turn away no one that sought a home amongst them, as long as they could contribute, and their past conquerings and raids had helped to add to their diversity as well. A few, like Thade, had their hands on humans they'd captured, while others carried gold and other items they looted. With a wave of his free hand, Thade made a signal, and the whole group began the trek back to their home in the mountains.

Shae sighed as she was carried along, hoisted over the shoulder of a Minotaur. Her attention was dragged to the motley crew of people, and she looked each one over. She noticed several others had women over their shoulders like her. She gave them worried glances, thinking they all would die.

It was a long way back to their village, and by Sunset they'd reached the camp they'd set up the previous night, a handful of others waitng for them there. Thade spoke to one of them, sending him ahead to report back to the rest of the tribe. A successful raid solidified his place as chief, and there would be a feast to celebrate his rise to the position and their victory.

He entered the largest tent at the center of the camp, setting the girl down before him. "Do you know why I've taken you? Why anyone else from your tribe has been taken?" He asked, curious to know if she had any inkling of his true intentions.

"No..." Shae said quietly, shrinking a bit back. There was no chance of escape. None. All she could do is sit here and wait.

"What will you do?" She asked timidly.

"I'm not sure of the other's fates. That's up to the warriors who captured them, though they will be given the chance to formally join the tribe, as all our captives do," He told her, "But as for you, you'll be my mate." He watched her closely, wondering how she'd take the news.

Shae's eyes widened, and her mouth opened a bit. She'd thought he was going to kill and eat her! Now he was more likely to eat her out!

"M-mate?" She spluttered.

She seemed more surprised, then anything, taken aback by the suggestion. "Yes, mate," He repeated, "Its tradition. This is my first raid as chief." Usually the raids were arranged and carefully planned between his tribe and a friendly village-but her father had forced his hand before any such things could be taken into consideration.

Shae nodded sort of slowly, as though her brain refused to function. She crossed her arms in her lap, staring at the floor. Her brows were furrowed slightly, the gears in her brain obviously turning. She had an arranged marriage with the biggest jerk back home, so that was nothing to look forward too. But this guy/minotaur seemed less... Jerky.

Then it hit her.

"Does that mean we'll be having... Err... Children?" Children was obviously not the word she was going to say at first, but she still put it in the sentence. She looked at the minotaur's face intently.

He gave a chuckle at her question, at her reluctance to say 'mating' outright. "That does tend to be an end result, given time, at least," He told her with a grin, looking down at her, a playful look in his eye.

Shae blushed a tiny bit, looking slightly awkward. She looked around for a log or rock to sit on, but the ground was clear until she looked like she was running away. She didn't really know how to continue the conversation, so she just looked around awkwardly. If she could get more awkward.

As she stood around awkwardly, seeming to be unsure of what to do next, he turned away, making his way to a cook who had been preparing food for the returning wariors. He retruned with a pair of bowls of stew, handing one to Shae, and settling besides her on the ground.
