There had been no other northern werewolves seen in decades. As it was, her foster pack had not been sure where she had come from. They had found her in an open box car of a freight train as a whelp. The north had called to her all her life. So for the past three years she had made her life in the far north. Though living in a national park, she had never been bothered by humans. She lived in the heart of the vast lands and had built her home into the side of a hill so as to go undetected.

While she did have a human form and a small stash of clothing, she rarely used either. She did go into town on occasion to mail a letter home and keep in touch with her friends from the southern packs. And then there were days like this.

The lake had been threatening to start forming ice so she had decided to get one last swim-bath in before the snow flew. The water, of course, was frigid but she had a plan. Swim as a human, dry off, then transform into something with fur. She swam about the lake quietly as the morning fog rolled over the clear waters.
